London is where Potter Payper ended his “Training Day Tour” and what a way to end it!
This was my first time ever going to a concert of an artist with a ‘cult’ following. The majority of Potter Paypers fanbase have lived with his music for the best part of 10 years, which has had a lot of ups and downs the stories are evident in his music. To be in this environment as a new Potter fan was intense, but in the best way possible, every fans eyes was filled with anticipation, and there was not one frown in the place. This made me super excited for the show to start.
The warm up act was drill artist K.O. alongside DJ Dubl. DJ Dubl had a really good set, which involved new and old hits of mainly UK music without having to venture to our cousins across the pond. K.O. got the crowd hyped even though he has laid back performing style but it works. He performed his array of popular underground tunes that he has in his locker.
Finally, Potter Payper arrived and he had the strongest start walking out to his song “ Purpose” a song that fitted the setting perfectly. The crowd was well and truely alive! The fans had a huge part to play because their energy was consistent throughout the whole night. Potter has only recently come out of prison, when you (a fan) have been starved of someones musical presence for years it means an awful lot when you can finally see him/her live. And they did not waste that oppurtunity.
One thing I love about Potters perfoming style,
Passion.
The guy has crates of it. When someone performs like that you just feel song that little more. It was this show that made me realise why his fans (including myself) love him so much, every song is about his story so when you see Potter Payper on stage living his dream it makes you super happy for him because you know where he is coming from. It also motivates you to reach your dreams to. You can buy a ticket but you cannot buy that feeling.
Potter Payper performed his old and new tracks and managed to merge them really well so it just felt like a grand spectacle of his music. Every fan felt accounted for in that room. Lastly, Dave came out to play piano whilst Potter rapped his classic “Purple Rain” the crowd didnt even seem to phased by him being there, they made noise of course but they were so transfixed in Potters music it was almost secondary. I respected how Dave was simply there to support Potter and didnt force his presence at all, he was sitting there rapping along the words as passionately as the rest of us. The fact that at an A List artist can do that is great testament to his character and also lets you know how respected Potter Payper is in the rap game.
Potter Payper hasn’t taken his foot off the gas since coming home from his holiday but I will definitley be here for the rest his journey as an artist.
